Finvaulta tracks 1 research report on IAU, updated through August 17, 2026. Latest: “Weekly Markets Monitor”.

Gold demonstrated robust upward momentum during the week ending 14 August 2026, advancing 1.3% to settle at US$4,391/oz amid supportive macroeconomic conditions. The rally was primarily underpinned by cooling U.S. inflation figures, a 0.6% month-over-month contraction in retail sales, and weakening consumer sentiment, prompting markets to price out a September Federal Reserve rate hike. Investor demand for gold-backed vehicles remained strong, evidenced by global gold ETFs securing US$3.64bn (24.0 tonnes) in positive net weekly inflows, led by North American and European allocations. Derivatives positioning reinforced this constructive stance, as COMEX net long positions expanded over the period. From a technical standpoint, the underlying metal established a base above US$4,203/oz, testing initial resistance at its 200-day moving average of US$4,503/oz and the US$4,574/oz Fibonacci level. However, institutional analysts note that elevated U.S. real yields and rising Japanese Government Bond yields nearing 3% remain pivotal macro variables that could temper sustained upside.
